It’s a Special Tuesday!

Another excuse (not that we need one) to celebrate.
It’s Christmaaaaaaasss ! and today  it’s Tuesday!

Thanks to one of the founding members of the TuesdayClub that reminded us how to achieve inner peace.

"The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started".

So I looked around my house to see find things I'd started but not finished and, before leaving for work this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a boddle of Baileys, a buttle of wum, a pockage of Pringoles, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valiuminun scriptins, the res of the chesescake an a box a chocletz.  Yu haf no idr how bludy fablus I feel rite now.  Plaese sned dhis orn to dem yu fee ar in ned ov inner peass.  An telum, u luvvm.!!

Happy Christmas!

If I see another Rudolph near me, I 'll shoot him!

Le Beaujolais Nouveau Est Arrivé! (only for the TuesdayClub)

Le Beaujolais Nouveau Est Arrivé!
Especially for the TuesdayClub and as it happens year after year, the Beaujolais Nouveau arrived already for tonight’s TuesdayClub meeting.

At one past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, from little villages and towns like Romanèche-Thorins, over a million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey through a sleeping France to Paris for immediate shipment to all parts of the world. Banners proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! One of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the wine world has begun.

The official release date was set for November 15th. Beaujolais Nouveau was officially born. By this time, what was just a local tradition had gained so much popularity that the news of it reached Paris. The race was born. It wasn't long thereafter that the word spilled out of France and around the world. In 1985, the date was again changed, this time to the third Thursday of November tying it to a weekend and making the celebration complete. But wherever the new Beaujolais went, importers had to agree not to sell it before midnight on the third Thursday of November.

There is only one exception, the TuesdayClub that traditionally tastes the Beaujolais Nouveau on the Tuesday preceding the official Thursday release!

Enjoy it!

Another Tuesday

It was meant to be a surprise but as I found out, many members were expecting it. Last night was devoted to goodies from down under. No, we did not have any kangaroo dishes or any Aussie Vegemite on toast. It was an ode to Penfolds! Starting from the humble Rawsons Retreat Shiraz Cabernet, to the Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz to the famous Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz.

Chef-sine-diploma Pambos, presented a variety of interesting dishes to complement the wine and as usual, he has astonished everyone when he served individual portions of egg-tagliatelle toped with red wild mushrooms. Yes, it was another mushroom night but I, at least, have greatly enjoyed it.

Tonight's meeting

Do not forget tonights meeting. Surprises are not excluded from the menu.

Some members have recently been to the Film Club's viewing of Last Tango in Paris and requested the chef not to present butter in any form tonight.

A part of the Penfolds family

The TuesdayClub dedicates this Penfolds bouquet to its Far East members

The flagship of Penfolds

***
Note:-
Penfolds Grange (until the 1989 vintage labelled Penfolds Grange Hermitage) is an Australian wine made predominantly from the Shiraz grape and usually a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is widely considered Australia's "first growth" and its most collectable wine. The term "Hermitage", the name of a French wine appellation, was commonly used in Australia as another synonym for Shiraz or Syrah.

From humble beginnings in the 1950s, Grange has maintained its place as Australia's most prestigious red wine over five decades. Today, it is a wine of international renown, with each vintage eagerly awaited by collectors both in Australia and overseas.

Penfolds Grange is a wine of extraordinary dimension and power. Richly textured, intensely concentrated and packed with fruit sweetness, these wines, regardless of vintage, require medium to long-term cellaring. They develop into immensely complex, beguiling wines that seduce the senses.

An Australian icon, Grange represents a tradition in winemaking that is totally uncompromising. Grange has bypassed the fads and trends of modern winemaking in the sense that it has maintained an integrity of style and remained true to its origins in the mind of Max Schubert. Penfolds Grange is the quality standard against which all other Australian red wines are judged. To share a mature Grange, 15 to 20 years old, in fine condition, is one of the great wine experiences.
